Questions

The ones worth answering up front

Are these really free?

Yes. All five projects are MIT licensed — there is no licence key, no activation, no per-seat or per-device fee, and no feature held back for a paid tier. Each project page links its own licence file so you can check rather than take our word for it.

What costs money is infrastructure and time: the server each one runs on, the storage behind it, and the hours you or somebody else spends setting it up and keeping it patched.

Do I have to use all five?

No. Each project installs independently, with its own repository, database and login. Use one or build your own stack. They do not share a sign-on and there is no management layer over the top of them.

What do they need to run?

A small Linux VM each, in most cases. Some of them sit on top of software you already run: St0r needs UrBackup on the same host and installs it if you have none, rem0te needs a self-hosted RustDesk server, OPNMGR manages OPNsense firewalls, and Depl0y talks to Proxmox VE and to Dell iDRAC or HPE iLO. Every product page lists what that project asks for, taken from its own documentation.

What does MSP Reboot charge for, then?

Setup and hosting — installing and configuring the tools you pick, and running them on infrastructure MSP Reboot maintains, so you get a working system instead of a repository and an evening. It is a paid engagement, scoped and priced per customer.

You never have to buy it. The software is the same either way, and nothing is withheld from the self-hosted version.

What happens if I want to leave?

You take it with you. The projects are open source, the data sits in ordinary databases, and a hosted install runs the same code you would run yourself. Bugs are handled in the open on each project's GitHub issue tracker whether or not you are a customer of anybody.

Want the tools without the setup work?

MSP Reboot installs, configures and hosts these projects as a paid service. The software itself stays free and self-hostable — you never have to buy anything to use it.
